It is a great news for people who are addicted for
WiFi technology but at the same time have an intention to went out hanging
around outside. Newly installed “smart palms” in parks and beaches are not only
providing shade but also acting a free wifi hotspots. The six-metre-tall
artificial treas are solar powered and offer consumer recharging for mobile
phones and other gadgets, plus providing weather forecasts, news and
information about Dubai.
They have been installed smart palm at Zabeel Park
and beach near Burj Al Arab, and they have intention to expand them to all
public beaches in the Emirates. Design based on date palm trees, they are
provided real-time data on the number of internet users and devices charged via
the company’s website. Estimation of 260 people use wifi service, which has
range of 53 metres, each day with 31 devices recharged daily.
There are display screens installed inside of the
trees that are used for public messages, government notices and advertisements.
D Idea Media, the company behinds the pals said that seating areas are
available next to each palm for resting and relaxation during the
batttery-recharging process, as well as for internet browsing via the wifi
access.
The charging stations are more powerful than standard
charges and the company said that tehy can recharge batteries 2 ½ times faster.
Users can also interact with a touchscreen pad that provieds multilingual
information and there’s an emergency button if needed. More of the palms are
expected to be installed at Al Mamzar Parl, Dubai Creek Park and Al Barsha Pond
Park.
